Update! There's always something to do here, someone to talk to, a coffee to drink and a walk to take. I didn't get into bed before midnight for weeks and so I've been too lazy and tired to update for a long time. But now.

As you can see, the rooms in the University home are huge. Here's my room:

...and the big kitchen:

The second or third day, a new friend and I went to IKEA to buy some stuff for our rooms because they were so empty. IKEA is in Arlon, Belgium, because it's quality was never accepted by the Luxemburgish people. Interesting, isn't it?

Also, the University organized a tour to see the city of Luxemburg (photos following) and the "little Switzerland" of Luxemburg, Echtnernach (photos following).

For now, just a few impressions of Luxemburg City:

The girl in the picture is my best friend and stalker Nina :) You will see more pictures of her yet!

Also, does anybody read this blog? Comments make an author happy...

Arrival

Finally! I've arrived in Luxembourg, a bit late as some of you might know. My beloved greatgrandmother kept me in Austria a bit longer but the depart was inevitable.

The travel was très dur . I had a big and heavy suitcase and if you think that the train conducturs would help a little girl carry such a burden, you're sadly mistaken - as was I. Since I started in Austria, I was aware that the first train could be a bit late but it turns out trains in Germany aren't much more punctual. I had to change train three times, I had to run to the next one every single time.

Finally arrived in Luxembourg city, I got the keys for my room in the hall of residence from a very nice lady in the bureau of mobility who stayed until 7 pm, just for me :)

After that, again train journey to Esch-sur-Alzette. At first I wasn't very happy that I'd be living here, half an hour from the city of Luxembourg, but Esch is a rather nice little city.

The row of houses I see from my window. Quaint, isn't it?

And here I am :) I've got two big windows, my room is rather large (photos will follow) and I've met the nicest people here.

The "Letzebuerger", as they call themselves, are great people too. They switch easily between German, English, French and Letzebuergisch. Their fashion sense is awesome. It's like little Paris. All the working women here have a "sexy secretary" look that they wear at all times, even in bad weather.

Today was my first day at the University of Luxembourg. It's a rather new and small university. They admit only 50 people in my study course each semester! For comparison, in Vienna it was almost 500 of us.

Here, everything is small and personal. The toilets are clean and there's even paper. Also, today the director of my course split a course into two parts, because I told him earning 4 credits would be too much work for me.

I think I could get used to this.

Hugs and greetings, Alex

Hello dear reader!
Like on real paper, I hesitate to write on a blank internet page. Nevertheless, sooner or later a start has to be made and so I begin my blog on my Erasmus semester in Luxemburg.

For those who are not quite sure where exactly Luxemburg is, go here: Map of Europe.

First and foremost, I will post photos and whatever I experienced, but if anyone has questions concerning the program Erasmus or anything administrative I had to do before going away or during the trip, I'll be happy to reply or include that.

Assuming I have any visitors here.

Enjoy!
